Welcome to Animal City
Animal City is a family owned business that has been serving Connecticut for over 70 years. Since conception in 1933, Animal City has been involved in the freshwater tropical fish trade. Animal City was originally known as Hartford Aquarium and was strictly a tropical fish store. Over the years the business evolved into a full line pet store providing a vast variety of domestic and exotic pets, products, and knowledge.
Located in Vernon, Connecticut since 1984, Animal City provides everything from the traditional hamster or goldfish to something more exotic like a sugar glider or discus. The store offers an unparalleled selection of unique tropical freshwater fish and goldfish from all over the world, filling over 150 aquariums for your selection. Most animals are locally bred and raised, thus are not subject to various diseases commonly spread amongst commercial sources.
Animal City strives to provide beyond exceptional customer service with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. The owner, Lester, is usually on the premises and has over forty years of experience to draw on for answering questions. Please make use of our website and/or our retail store for all of your pet's needs.
